HEALTH SCREENING

Cancer Screening Tests

Cancer screening begins with a high quality history and assessment of your risk. This includes discussing illnesses which may run in your family.

FAST, ACCURATE, COMPREHENSIVE

Once your private GP has completed a thorough history and cancer risk assessment with you, they'll examine you and offer relevant tests and scans, along with advice as to which are most appropriate. At The Hove Practice, we have access to a whole range of testing, using the largest independent laboratory outside of the NHS. Our samples are initially processed on-site shortly after testing and couriered to London each evening for immediate analysis to facilitate accurate and swift results. Once your results are received, your GP will either guide you through them or refer you to the top specialist to do so.

Cancer Screening Blood Tests

Our extensive range of blood tests can help with both cancer detection and/or monitoring.

Cancer Screening Tests

We provide tests for prostate, ovarian, pancreatic, colorectal, liver, and thyroid cancers. Some tests are also available for individuals at high risk, such as those with a family history of cancer. These tests measure specific markers in the blood, helping to identify potential cancer activity or monitor if cancer has returned after treatment. We also offer genetic testing to assess the risk of breast and ovarian cancer for those with a family history.

  • PSA Test
    [Prostate-Specific Antigen]

  • CA-125 Test HE4 + ROMA

Genetic Testing and Personalised Support

We also offer genetic testing and counselling for most known genetic conditions, if you have a family history. This includes breast cancer [BRCA Gene Testing], ovarian cancer, and many more. Please discuss your specific genetic testing requirements with your GP - they will talk through the options with you first, to make sure testing is right for you.

X-ray Imaging for Cancer Detection

X-ray imaging can sometimes play a role in cancer screening and monitoring. When appropriate to your care, we may use both X-ray and CT imaging, as it is often a CT that detects cancer as opposed to X-rays alone. X-ray imaging is a widely used diagnostic tool that utilises low levels of radiation to create images of internal body structures.

  • Chest X-ray

  • Abdominal X-ray

  • X-ray and MRI of spine, limbs and joint

  • CT virtual colonoscopy

  • CT chest, abdomen and pelvis

  • Brain MRI

  • Vascular imaging (including heart, carotids and limbs)
