REGULAR TESTING

Regular sexual health testing is an important part of your overall health and wellbeing, particularly at the start of a new sexual relationship, or after any unprotected sexual contact. We're pleased to offer discreet, comprehensive and competitively priced specialist packages, as either home testing kits or one-to-one appointments with our experienced clinicians.

Sexual Health Testing

Our experienced General Practitioners offer one-to-one appointments, for any patients who would like advice and guidance on appropriate private sexual health test(s). They'll also be able to review your results and provide treatment or referral if necessary.

Discreet Sexual Health Testing at our Practice


With both 15 and 30-minute appointment options available, there will be plenty of time for us to put you at ease and fully explore your concerns, supporting you through the process.

We'll complete a detailed assessment of your medical and sexual health history and testing will be conducted through a combination of venous blood sample, urine or swab of the affected area(s). All in our caring practice environment.


Private Sexual Health Testing at Home


If you know the test you need, we can deliver a test kit to the address of your choice, in discreet, plain packaging. Or we can arrange for you to collect the test kit directly from the practice. Either way, you'll be able to perform the test in the privacy of your own home.

Blood tests are performed by gentle finger prick testing - the same technique used by people with diabetes to monitor their blood sugar levels. Easy-to-follow instructions are included with all our tests but, if you have any difficulties, a virtual clinician appointment can be booked to support you.

Completed tests can either be dropped off at The Hove Practice before 17:00 hours Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays), or posted directly to our laboratory in the pre-paid envelope provided.

Rapid Result Options

For rapid option tests, results will usually be emailed by 4.00pm the day after returning your test.

Available as home testing kits only, no consultation costs apply to these tests as they are carried out by you, in the privacy of your own home. For the most accurate results, these tests should be taken from 14 days following possible infection.

Kits can be collected from The Hove Practice any time before 17.00 hours (5pm) the day before testing. Samples can be returned to the practice before 17.00 hours (5pm) Monday - Friday, for a result by 4.00pm the following day.

We offer a range of private sexual health test options to suit your requirements. And if you're unsure what tests you need, we can arrange an appointment with one our experienced clinicians. They'll be happy to examine you and provide advice, support and recommendations.

Our 15- and 30-minute appointments allow us to explore your concerns in full, offer clear advice, and guide you through next steps with care and confidence.


Your appointment will include a detailed review of your medical and sexual health history, followed by testing where appropriate.

Depending on your needs, this may involve a blood test, urine sample, or swab - carried out with professionalism and sensitivity by our expert team.

If you have a cervix, you can also choose to combine sexual health testing with your cervical smear. Just let us know when you book or speak to your clinician on the day.

Register with Us

We welcome all ages to register with us and you do not have to be living in Brighton & Hove - we support patients from all over the South of England. You are welcome to use us as a one-off or an occasional service as suits you, or for your ongoing regular healthcare provision.

We can register you with The Hove Practice to arrange any of our Health Screening, General Health or Lifestyle Healthcare services. Registration is free and quick and our helpful team are always on hand to help. There's no ongoing obligation for you to use our services and you don't have to live in Brighton and Hove to join us.

As soon as you book a “New Patient” appointment, you will automatically be sent a digital registration form to complete.
