Dr Simon Glew

Dr Simon Glew founded The Hove Practice, in September 2019. He is a dedicated and experienced family doctor who believes in whole-person, relationship-based care.


Simon takes a thoughtful, joined-up approach to medicine - advising, supporting and guiding patients and their families with clarity, warmth and clinical confidence.

  • Simon has worked across both NHS and private healthcare settings, most recently in Chelsea and Hove, giving him a broad perspective and a valuable network of trusted consultants across London and the South East. His hospital background spans paediatrics, psychiatry, ENT, care of older adults, and obstetrics and gynaecology. He also has a particular interest in sports and exercise medicine.

  • Simon trained as a GP in Brighton and Hove, achieving the highest mark in the Royal College of General Practitioners' clinical skills examination across Kent, Surrey and Sussex. He also holds a Master’s in Medical Research, awarded with distinction, and has published widely—on topics including paediatrics, allergy, sexual health, ENT, SCUBA diving, and medical record keeping.

    A passionate educator, Simon has trained medical students, junior doctors and GP trainees throughout his career. He has worked as an editor for a GP journal, co-created award-winning educational podcasts, and served as Vice-Chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners National Trainee Committee.

  • Simon lives locally with his wife—a paediatric doctor—and their three young children. Outside work, he enjoys running, cycling, kite surfing, SCUBA diving, travel and practising his French.

  • As the founder of The Hove Practice, Simon is committed to creating a welcoming and modern general practice that prioritises time, trust and personalised care. His clinical expertise is paired with a strong belief in continuity and connection.

Dr Hannah Davies

Dr Hannah Davies is a thoughtful and deeply committed GP who takes pride in building meaningful, long-term relationships with her patients.


Hannah listens carefully, takes a holistic view of health, and works collaboratively to find the right path forward - always aiming to address both immediate concerns and the wider context of a patient’s life.

  • Hannah graduated from Bristol Medical School in 2006 and began her training in the same city before moving to North London. There, she spent three years specialising in paediatrics, gaining valuable experience in haematology, neonatal care, paediatric surgery, and community child health.

    She went on to complete her General Practice training at the Whittington Hospital in North London, with placements in emergency medicine, general medicine, endocrinology and sexual health. Most recently, she spent five years working in a leading, innovative GP practice in Camden, where she developed a broad and diverse skill set.

  • Hannah holds a diploma in Sexual & Reproductive Health and has undertaken additional training in menopause care and counselling. She continues to develop her practice through professional learning that supports a more holistic understanding of patient needs.

  • Outside of the consulting room, Hannah is a qualified yoga teacher and passionate about movement and wellbeing. She has two young children and enjoys yoga, cycling, running and sea swimming—and has even completed two triathlons in recent years.

  • Hannah relocated to Hove to be closer to family. She joined The Hove Practice in 2022 and brings a wealth of experience and warmth to our team. She is known for her curiosity, empathy and patient-focused approach to care.

Dr Jane Walker

Dr Jane Walker is a compassionate and highly skilled GP, known for her holistic, patient-centred approach.


Jane takes time to understand each individual’s needs and is passionate about empowering patients to make confident, evidence-based decisions about their health. She has a special interest in women’s health, particularly in supporting women through menopause and hormonal changes.

  • Jane graduated from Southampton University in 2008 and completed her foundation training across Brighton and Chichester. She went on to work for a year at Canterbury Hospital in Christchurch, New Zealand, before returning to Brighton to undertake core medical training at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. There, she gained experience in neurology, cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, and oncology—laying a strong foundation for her future work in general practice.

    Since qualifying as a GP in Worthing in 2017, Jane has worked across several busy and varied NHS practices along the South Coast. She has developed significant expertise in women’s health, treating patients for premenstrual syndrome (PMS), perimenopause and menopause, both in NHS settings and private clinics.

  • Jane holds Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), a postgraduate qualification that reflects her wide-ranging training in hospital medicine. She has completed additional specialist training in sexual health, contraception, and menopause care, and is a member of the British Menopause Society.

  • Jane lives in Hove with her family. Outside of work, you’ll often find her running, cycling, or swimming in the sea—when she’s not chasing after her two young children.

  • Jane joined The Hove Practice to continue her work in delivering high-quality, personalised care in the community she now calls home. She brings deep clinical knowledge, warmth, and a collaborative spirit to her work with patients and colleagues alike.

Dr Ian Williams is a highly experienced GP with over thirty years in practice. Known for his empathetic, down-to-earth manner.


Ian takes time to connect with patients and truly understand their needs. He brings particular care and insight to his work with older patients, offering a thoughtful, tailored approach that is rooted in genuine compassion.

  • Ian’s career has taken him across the world, beginning in New Zealand and then to rural North Wales, where he gained experience in everything from emergency medicine to genitourinary health. He’s worked as a police surgeon, a GP trainer, and even a mountain rescue team doctor. His broad skillset means he’s calm under pressure and confident in complex clinical situations.

  • Ian qualified in Cardiff in 1989 and gained his MRCGP in 1995. He also holds a diploma in anaesthetics (DA) and later completed an MA in Medical Humanities at Swansea University. He has taught at Manchester Medical School and contributed to medical education throughout his career.

  • Alongside his clinical work, Ian is an award-winning graphic novelist, cartoonist and writer. His work explores the human side of medicine and has featured regularly in national publications including The Guardian. He’s also written two graphic novels and contributed to books, academic journals, and magazines.

  • Ian moved to Brighton and Hove in 2013 and has been part of the team since 2014—first at Hove Park Villas Surgery, and now at Trinity Medical Centre following the merger. He continues to be passionate about communication in medicine and was recently featured on the Inspiring Doctors podcast for his innovative approach.

Dr Tom Whitfield is an experienced GP with a calm, thorough and thoughtful approach to patient care.


Tom values the opportunity to build trusted, long-term relationships with patients and enjoys the variety that general practice brings. At The Hove Practice, he particularly appreciates the time he can dedicate to each appointment - listening closely, examining thoroughly, and taking the time to explain everything clearly.

  • Tom graduated from Brighton and Sussex Medical School in 2009, completed his foundation training in and around London, and then spent a year working in Australia before returning to Brighton for GP training. He became a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2015.

    As a junior doctor, he gained wide-ranging experience across orthopaedics, general surgery, medicine, gastroenterology, psychiatry, A&E, care of the elderly, obstetrics and ENT. His early interest in ENT (ear, nose and throat medicine) developed into a specialist area of practice.

  • In addition to his GP training, Tom has completed postgraduate intercollegiate exams in ENT and now works as a GP with a Specialist Interest in ENT at University Hospitals Sussex and in a local community ENT clinic. He manages a wide range of ENT conditions in both adults and children, and has trained extensively with paediatric, otology, rhinology and head and neck consultants in the region.

  • Tom lives locally with his wife, a consultant radiologist, and their three young children. He’s a keen golfer and enjoys fitting in a game of squash or football when he gets the chance.

  • Tom continues to work in the NHS and brings a deep commitment to personalised care at The Hove Practice. He values the space to explore concerns in detail, ensuring each patient feels informed, involved and supported throughout their treatment.

Dr Emma Richards

Dr Emma Richards brings nearly two decades of experience to her work as a GP. She’s known for her thoughtful, individualised approach to care


Emma Takes time to listen, connect, and understand what really matters to each patient. She has a particular interest in women’s health and menopause care, with a strong belief in the power of personalised medicine.

  • Emma’s clinical background is wide-ranging. Her early hospital training covered paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, general surgery, emergency medicine, and psychiatry. She also developed further expertise in respiratory medicine and dermatology. Before joining The Hove Practice, she worked for 10 years as an NHS GP and gained valuable experience abroad, volunteering in Ghana and working in a busy Emergency Department in Sydney, Australia.

  • Emma graduated with a First-Class degree in Biomedical Science from Birmingham University before studying medicine at Cambridge, where she qualified in 2006. She holds diplomas in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and in Reproductive and Sexual Health. She’s currently completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Genomics at St George’s and City University, reflecting her growing interest in genetics and personalised care.

    Emma has a strong academic background and was awarded an Honorary Research Fellowship at Imperial College, where she worked on primary care research and taught medical students. She’s published articles in journals such as the BMJ and BJGP, and has presented her research at academic conferences in Oxford and Cambridge. Her commitment to teaching has been recognised with multiple awards, including the London Deanery Learning and Development Prize and a Teaching Hero award from her students.

  • When she’s not studying genomics or consulting with patients, Emma is busy juggling life with her three children. She enjoys running (when she can fit it in), playing the piano, and tackling what she affectionately calls “mountains of laundry.”

  • Emma joined The Hove Practice after relocating to Sussex with her family. She brings a calm, curious and patient-focused approach to the team, blending deep clinical knowledge with a natural warmth and openness.

With a strong background in healthcare administration, Megan plays a crucial role in ensuring the practice runs smoothly, managing everything from patient care to staff coordination. She’s passionate about creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere and providing excellent care, whilst ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.

Our Reception Team

Our Reception team is integral to the smooth-running of our practice and the day-to-day coordination of patient care.

Acting as your first point of contact for any enquiries, they are always eager to assist with compassion and professionalism. They’re responsible for handling all incoming and outgoing correspondence, managing appointments, and supporting patient needs.

We take pride in being a close-knit team, fostering a supportive environment not only for each other but for all our patients. Every team member is committed to providing exceptional service and making sure patient care is seamless.


Join our growing team

We are a busy, exclusively private, General Practice in the heart of Hove that prides itself on clinical excellence and the doctor-patient relationship. Our employees and patients often remark on how much it feels like the style of General Practice they remember and we consider ourselves very lucky to be able to offer this.

Since opening in 2019, we have developed a significant patient base who follow either exclusively private care or private-NHS mix. And our current team of administrative staff and doctors are continuing to build upon our excellent reputation, to expand our services for the local community within Hove and beyond.

Register with Us

We welcome all ages to register with us and you do not have to be living in Brighton & Hove - we support patients from all over the South of England. You are welcome to use us as a one-off or an occasional service as suits you, or for your ongoing regular healthcare provision.

We can register you with The Hove Practice to arrange any of our Health Screening, General Health or Lifestyle Healthcare services. Registration is free and quick and our helpful team are always on hand to help. There's no ongoing obligation for you to use our services and you don't have to live in Brighton and Hove to join us.

As soon as you book a “New Patient” appointment, you will automatically be sent a digital registration form to complete.
